Supporting you in your financial journey from the first steps through to retirement

At Breward Financial Planning we are here to support our clients at any point on their financial journey. From the first steps of buying their first home through to legacy planning, we have the expertise and experience to provide a holistic service to deliver the financial plan that suits them best.

You’re At The Start

After education comes the first step on the career ladder which means lots of jargon about pensions, savings and what to do with the income you are now generating. There are topics to consider right from the start of your journey and for many people, it's the objective of buying their first property or saving for a wedding which kickstarts their financial plan.

From the start, we can consider:

  • Savings for deposit for a property or big event such as a wedding
  • Mortgage advice and general education
  • Security for you and your family with products such as income protection insurance
  • Education around pensions or writing a Will for the benefits of your loved ones and for future planning

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

Will writing involves the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James's Place and is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Your Family Grows

It’s now no longer you, your partner and the dog. Your family is growing and your focus is on what you can do to protect your children and give them the best start in life. As your priorities change, we develop your financial plan to focus on you and your family.

As your family grows, we can consider:

  • Peace of mind with protection insurance, such as life insurance or income protection, to secure your home - if the worst happens.
  • Investments to help fund education costs
  • Mortgage advice to help move into a bigger family home
  • Investments for the children with Junior ISAs

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

The favourable tax treatment of ISAs may not be maintained in the future as is subject to changes in legislation.

Your Golden Years

50 is the new 30 as they say, but during this pre-retirement stage on your journey you may still be supporting your children, or perhaps an elderly relative. There will be opportunities to consolidate your wealth and maximize your return for a healthy retirement.

At this stage on your journey, we can consider:

  • What retirement looks like for you. Using our cash flow forecasting tools we can help develop the most effective financial plan to deliver the retirement you want.
  • If you are mortgage free or downsizing, what can we do with the extra cash and mitigate tax liabilities as efficiently as possible.
  • Your children might now be entering the first steps in their journey and will benefit from some financial education.
  • Setting up longer term contributions to savings or pension accounts for your grandchildren.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

Living The Dream

The time has finally come, you’ve given up the 9-5 and it's now about enjoying your time doing the things you love with friends and family. Financial planning doesn’t have to stop there, it's a perfect time to start planning for later life and look at what support you can provide for your family.

Whilst enjoying your retirement, we can consider:

  • Regular cash flow forecasting to ensure your income and capital can sustain your desired retirement.
  • Trust planning to help reduce Inheritance Tax or education fees
  • Updating of Wills and setting up Power of Attorney
  • Consolidating assets to simplify your finances
  • Making gifts to children or grandchildren and setting up savings plans for them

The levels and bases of taxation, and reliefs from taxation, can change at any time. The value of any tax relief is generally dependent on individual circumstances.

Will writing and Powers of Attorney will include the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James's Place. Will writing, Power of Attorney and Trusts are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Later In Life

When you’re in your later years and enjoying retirement, worrying about your finances is the last thing you need and so we will still be with you on this journey to give you peace of mind and to help you build a legacy.

Towards the end of your journey, we can consider:

  • Inheritance tax planning
  • Keeping and up to date Will and setting up a Power of Attorney
  • Making sure your financial affairs are all in order
  • Estate planning

Will writing and Powers of Attorney will include the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James's Place and are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
